Here's a little extra to be added You're not playing a new trainer, you're playing the professor, or maybe the champion or a gym leader. You have some other trainers with you, depending on which of the above is chosen, you either have Two new trainers (Professor) Gym trainers (Gym Leader) Either Elite Four, Gym Leaders or a challenger (Champion) I imagine it going something like this They're in the place where they work, be it a lab, gym, or the Pokemon League, talking to whoever they're talking to, when someone bursts through the door and calls out the player's name, telling the player there's an emergency and pleading with the player to hurry and follow. If its the Professor The player is given the choice to excuse themselves and return, or finish their explanation and teaching before stepping aside and going to help. If its a Gym Leader The player is given the chance to rush away, excuse themself, or wrap up their meeting/conversation. If its the Champion The player is given the options to hurry along and help, wrap up the conversion, or ask them to come along and explain as they go (or, if it is a Challenger, to do the battle or ask them to wait while they go see what's going on) Another fun feature that could be implemented, which will not be warned of, will be that, the longer you take in this scene, the more foes you'll have to face. A few extras I would like to say, rq You do get to choose a starter, chosen in the past- you pick your starter in a flashback, as well as play a brief amount of the trainer's start-up. Say, we're playing a gym leader, and the starter we pick also chooses what type of gym leader we are- say, we choose Chimchar, with Chimchar eventually becoming a fire/fighting, we get a choice between being a Fire Gym Leader or Fighting Gym Leader, and say we choose fire, we're taken through areas with fire types and stuff, and we're told something along the lines of "I loved fire types since I was young, and dreamt of being a fire type gym leader, so I caught and trained fire types." We can catch different Pokemon, but this fragment of the flashback will not end until we catch a fire type or something that evolves into a fire type. If its a Professor, we can just, catch Pokemon that seem cool, if a Champion, we're looking for Pokemon we think will be strong. After this flashback is when we're interrupted. Allow me to take you through a vision of this with the Professor who, for this example, we will call Willow. *You're faced with a bright light, as a voice asks softly, "what's your name?"* [_________] [W________] [Wi_______] [Wil______] [Will_____] [Willo____] [Willow___] You have chosen the name Willow, is this correct? She has pink and purple hair, sapphire eyes, her skin, a rich, reddish-brown sepia, wearing a vibrant pink gown with gold and purple accents. The villains are starting to back away, they have begun to realize how greatly they've messed up, but the past can't be undone...* A few things to note with this specific example- choosing to take the children along, although it does make it more difficult in the beginning, will make things better in the long-term as they start learning decent strategies earlier, and can help out sooner and more often.
